About the Role

GREEN-i is a digital agency specialising in web, app, and custom digital solutions. We’re expanding our Tech Team and looking for a Backend Developer who enjoys building clean, stable, and scalable backend systems.

This role suits developers who want to work on meaningful backend systems, take ownership of APIs and CMS engineering, and thrive in an on-site collaborative team.

This is a full-time, on-site role in our Puchong studio, where communication is faster, collaboration is closer, and teamwork is more effective.

We’re strengthening our technical capability — your backend skills will directly contribute to how our Tech Team grows and performs.

What You’ll Work On

API & Backend Engineering

• Build, extend, and maintain RESTful APIs
• Integrate authentication, payments, CRM, notification and enterprise systems
• Ensure backend logic is efficient, secure, and scalable

CMS Engineering (Beyond Basic Templating)

• Develop custom backend functionality for WordPress or Drupal
• Build and maintain custom plugins/modules
• Support enterprise-level, high-traffic websites

Internal White-Label Product Development

• Contribute to backend components for our internal white-label product ecosystem
• Collaborate with mobile developer to deliver backend features

Database & Architecture

• Design and optimise MySQL schemas
• Improve performance and data handling
• Refine backend structure, deployment flow, and coding standards

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Resolve backend issues
• Fix bugs, vulnerabilities, and performance bottlenecks
• Provide backend support and improvements across all CMS websites we manage

Job Requirements

• Malaysian citizen
• Minimum 3 years of backend development experience
• Strong PHP fundamentals
• Comfortable with WordPress and/or Drupal
• Good MySQL knowledge (schema design, queries, optimisation)
• Familiar with Git workflow
• Basic understanding of secure coding practices

Nice to Have

• Laravel, Symfony, or CodeIgniter
• Experience with Strapi or headless CMS
• API integration experience
