Job Summary:
The Migration Lead is responsible for overseeing and executing the end-to-end migration process of data, applications, or systems from legacy platforms to new environments. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to gather requirements, designing and enhancing migration tools, planning and executing migration strategies, and ensuring successful and efficient migration with minimal disruption to business operations. The Migration Lead will also be responsible for documentation, testing, and ensuring that the migration meets all technical, functional, and business requirements.
Additionally: migration scripts and processes experience (requirements for migration tools from 1SP to GSD and 1A), as well as experience working for Roche.
Key Responsibilities:
Migration Strategy and Planning:
Contributing in developing and managing a migration strategy that aligns with organizational goals and technical requirements.
Help in identifying key milestones, timelines, and resources needed to execute the migration successfully.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, and business units, to ensure alignment with migration objectives.
Create detailed migration plans, including risk management strategies, rollback procedures, and contingency plans.
Requirements Gathering and Analysis:
Work closely with stakeholders to understand business needs, technical requirements, and constraints for the migration.
Analyze current systems and data structures to identify dependencies, potential challenges.
Document requirements to guide the design and development of the migration process.
Design and Enhancement of Migration Tools:
Lead the design and development of custom migration tools tailored to specific project needs.
Evaluate existing migration tools and recommend enhancements or alternative solutions to improve efficiency, accuracy, and performance.
Collaborate with software developers and other technical teams.
Ensure that the migration tools comply with industry standards and best practices.
Documentation and Testing:
Develop comprehensive documentation for the migration process, including technical specifications, user guides, and training materials.
Design and implement testing protocols to validate the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of the migration process.
Conduct unit, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT) to identify and resolve any issues before the migration goes live.
Document all testing results, issues, and resolutions to ensure transparency and accountability.
Execution of Migration:
Lead the execution of the migration process, coordinating with technical teams to ensure a smooth and timely transition.
Monitor the progress of the migration, addressing any issues or challenges that arise during the process.
Ensure that all data, applications, and systems are migrated accurately and securely, with minimal impact on business operations.
Provide post-migration support to address any issues or optimizations needed after the migration is complete.
Stakeholder Communication and Reporting:
Serve as the primary point of contact for all migration-related activities, providing regular updates to stakeholders on progress, risks, and issues.
Prepare and deliver presentations and reports to senior management, outlining the status of the migration, key achievements, and areas of concern.
Facilitate regular meetings with project teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
Lead and mentor a team of migration specialists, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure the successful execution of migration tasks.
Foster a collaborative working environment, encouraging open communication and knowledge sharing among team members.
Coordinate with external vendors and third-party service providers as needed to support the migration process.
