We also understand and appreciate that diversity is a driver of creativity and innovation, which will make our business more competitive, compelling and profitable.”JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:As the AVP, Anti-Piracy, you’ll play a key role in leading investigative efforts against illicit content distribution and safeguarding Astro’s broadcast and digital platforms.Reporting to the SAVP of Anti-Piracy, you’ll drive technical project delivery, support day-to-day operational strategies, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to protect our content ecosystem.What You'll Do:Lead Investigations:<ul><li>Conduct comprehensive investigations into video piracy networks, illegal streaming platforms, and content redistribution channels.</li><li>Leverage OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) techniques to develop attribution reports on infringing operators.</li></ul>Technical &amp; Threat Analysis:<ul><li>Analyse threats and vulnerabilities within broadcast and OTT systems, and propose mitigation measures.</li><li>Oversee the delivery of anti-piracy technical solutions and tools to enhance content security.</li></ul>Stakeholder Engagement &amp; Coordination:<ul><li>Work with law enforcement, legal teams, content owners, and regulatory bodies to escalate cases for enforcement and legal actions.</li><li>Support industry collaborations and cross-functional engagement on content protection initiatives.</li></ul>Reporting &amp; Documentation:<ul><li>Produce clear, actionable investigative reports for internal and external follow-up.</li><li>Prepare executive briefings and updates for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.</li></ul>Team Development:<ul><li>Mentor and upskill Associate and Senior Associate team members, fostering excellence in technical and investigative practices.</li></ul>Support to SAVP, Anti-Piracy:<ul><li>Assist the SAVP in executing strategic projects, managing daily operational oversight, and reporting.</li></ul>REQUIREMENTS:Who You Are:<ul><li>A degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, IT, Information Security, or a related field. Equivalent experience with a strong technical background is also considered.</li><li>At least 5 years of experience in investigative, intelligence, or analytical roles—ideally involving digital environments.</li><li>Proven ability to conduct OSINT-based investigations and digital attribution techniques.</li><li>Hands-on experience with websites and social media investigations related to streaming, direct downloads, and peer-to-peer sharing.</li><li>Strong technical understanding of internet infrastructure and investigative tools (DNS/reverse DNS lookups, traceroute, packet analysis).</li><li>Familiarity with AI development tools and languages (e.g., Python, SQL, Pandas, TensorFlow, OpenAI APIs) is an advantage, particularly in content protection, detection automation, or OSINT workflows.</li><li>Knowledge of e-commerce ecosystems and their role in distributing illicit streaming devices or services.</li><li>Familiarity with regional enforcement and regulatory frameworks related to content protection.</li><li>Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.</li><li>Strong collaborative mindset—able to work effectively across departments and with external partners.</li><li>Skilled in writing clear investigative reports and presenting findings in a structured, impactful way.</li><li>Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English, with a keen eye for detail.</li><li>Demonstrates critical thinking, professionalism, and sound judgment in high-pressure scenarios.</li><li>Upholds the highest standards of confidentiality and ethical conduct.</li></ul>“It's our people that make Astro Malaysia’s leading entertainment company.
