JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
As the AVP, Anti-Piracy, you’ll play a key role in leading investigative efforts against illicit content distribution and safeguarding Astro’s broadcast and digital platforms.
Reporting to the SAVP of Anti-Piracy, you’ll drive technical project delivery, support day-to-day operational strategies, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to protect our content ecosystem.
What You'll Do:
Lead Investigations:
Conduct comprehensive investigations into video piracy networks, illegal streaming platforms, and content redistribution channels.
Leverage OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) techniques to develop attribution reports on infringing operators.
Technical & Threat Analysis:
Analyse threats and vulnerabilities within broadcast and OTT systems, and propose mitigation measures.
Oversee the delivery of anti-piracy technical solutions and tools to enhance content security.
Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination:
Work with law enforcement, legal teams, content owners, and regulatory bodies to escalate cases for enforcement and legal actions.
Support industry collaborations and cross-functional engagement on content protection initiatives.
Reporting & Documentation:
Produce clear, actionable investigative reports for internal and external follow-up.
Prepare executive briefings and updates for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Team Development:
Mentor and upskill Associate and Senior Associate team members, fostering excellence in technical and investigative practices.
Support to SAVP, Anti-Piracy:
Assist the SAVP in executing strategic projects, managing daily operational oversight, and reporting.
REQUIREMENTS:
Who You Are:
A degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, IT, Information Security, or a related field. Equivalent experience with a strong technical background is also considered.
At least 5 years of experience in investigative, intelligence, or analytical roles—ideally involving digital environments.
Proven ability to conduct OSINT-based investigations and digital attribution techniques.
Hands-on experience with websites and social media investigations related to streaming, direct downloads, and peer-to-peer sharing.
Strong technical understanding of internet infrastructure and investigative tools (DNS/reverse DNS lookups, traceroute, packet analysis).
Familiarity with AI development tools and languages (e.g., Python, SQL, Pandas, TensorFlow, OpenAI APIs) is an advantage, particularly in content protection, detection automation, or OSINT workflows.
Knowledge of e-commerce ecosystems and their role in distributing illicit streaming devices or services.
Familiarity with regional enforcement and regulatory frameworks related to content protection.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
Strong collaborative mindset—able to work effectively across departments and with external partners.
Skilled in writing clear investigative reports and presenting findings in a structured, impactful way.
Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English, with a keen eye for detail.
Demonstrates critical thinking, professionalism, and sound judgment in high-pressure scenarios.
