We’re looking for a Government Affairs Content Writer & Editor to join our team and bring Malaysian government developments, policies and public affairs stories to life through engaging digital content.
What You’ll Do:
- Write around articles from ministry events and press releases to policy explainers.
- Attend around ministry events and turn key developments into compelling stories.
- Keep tabs on government announcements, news, ministry updates and Dewan Rakyat debates.
- Spot trending government and policy topics and turn them into content opportunities.
- Work closely with Press Secs, Corporate Comms, Editorial and BD teams.
- Support government-related campaigns, media decks and press releases.
- Keep content accurate, engaging and performance-driven.
Job Requirements
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Communications, Media, Bahasa Melayu, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in Malay-language journalism, editorial, content writing, or a related role.
- Excellent command of Bahasa Melayu, with strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.
- Strong understanding of Malaysian government affairs, public policy and current issues.
- Proven ability to research, analyse and simplify complex government policies into clear and engaging Malay-language content.
- Strong news judgement with the ability to identify timely and relevant story angles.
- Experience covering or engaging with government agencies, ministries, Press Secretaries or Corporate Communications teams.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Able to manage multiple stories, work independently and meet tight editorial deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in accuracy, facts and language quality.
- Proactive, resourceful and genuinely interested in Malaysia’s political, economic and social landscape.
