Job Description

The Facilities Technician is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and upkeep of building facilities to ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment. This role involves preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building systems. The Facilities Technician is responsible for the maintenance of all facilities matters covering all businesses and business operations of PSL. The following is the scope and job description, but shall not be limited to:

 Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance & Repair
 

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
   
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain building systems and equipment promptly.
   
• Coordinate with external vendors for specialized repairs and maintenance work.
   
• Safety & Compliance
   
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
   
• Conduct regular safety checks and report hazards.
   
• Assist in fire safety, evacuation drills, and emergency response procedures.
   
• Facilities Support
   
• Assist in setting up and maintaining office spaces, meeting rooms, and common areas.
   
• Handle minor renovation, carpentry, painting, or general upkeep tasks.
   
• Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and spare parts.
   
• Documentation & Reporting
   
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
   
• Report recurring issues or potential facility improvements to the Facilities Manager.
   
• Prepare periodic maintenance reports.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements – Facilities Technician

Education & Certification

• Minimum SPM / SKM / Certificate / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Maintenance, or related field
   
• Chargeman certification (A0/A1) is an advantage (for electrical scope)
   

Experience

• Minimum 1–3 years of experience in facilities, building maintenance, or technical support
   
• Experience in commercial buildings, hotels, factories, hospitals, or offices is an added advantage
   

Technical Skills

• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, air-conditioning (HVAC), and general building maintenance
   
• Ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance
   
• Familiar with basic tools, equipment, and safety procedures
   
• Able to troubleshoot and carry out minor repairs
   

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Knowledge of workplace safety (OSH) and safe work practices
   
• Able to comply with company SOPs and maintenance schedules
   
• Willing to attend safety or technical training when required
   

Soft Skills

• Responsible, reliable, and able to work independently
   
• Good communication and teamwork skills
   
• Able to follow instructions and complete tasks on time
   

Work Requirements

• Willing to work shift / standby / overtime when required
   
• Physically fit to perform maintenance duties
   
• Malaysian citizen or legally eligible to work in Malaysia
