Job Summary

The Junior Barista is responsible for preparing and serving quality beverages and assisting in the daily operations of the café. This role requires excellent customer service, adherence to company SOPs, food safety and hygiene standards, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. The Junior Barista is expected to learn continuously, support the team, and contribute to delivering a positive customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

Beverage Preparation

• Prepare coffee, tea, and other beverages according to Company recipes and SOPs.
• Operate coffee machines, grinders, blenders, and other café equipment safely.
• Ensure consistency in beverage quality, taste, and presentation.
• Monitor beverage ingredients and notify the Outlet Manager when stock is low.
• Ensure all drinks are served promptly and accurately.

Customer Service

• Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, professional service.
• Take customer orders accurately and process payments where required.
• Recommend menu items and promotions to customers.
• Handle customer enquiries and complaints politely and escalate when necessary.
• Maintain a positive dining experience for all customers.

Café Operations

• Assist in opening and closing duties.
• Refill ingredients, cups, lids, syrups, and other supplies.
• Ensure beverage stations are clean, organised, and fully stocked.
• Assist in receiving and storing deliveries properly.
• Support teammates during busy operating hours.

Hygiene & Food Safety

• Maintain cleanliness of coffee machines, equipment, utensils, and workstations.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures at all times.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of food and beverage ingredients.
• Comply with all Company SOPs and health authority requirements.

Inventory Control

• Assist in daily stock checking and inventory counting.
• Minimise wastage through proper handling of ingredients.
• Report damaged or expired products immediately.

Job Requirements

Working Requirements

• Work on shifts, weekends, and public holidays as scheduled.
• Work overtime when required by operational needs.
• Maintain punctuality, attendance, and professional grooming at all times.
• Wear the prescribed Company uniform and comply with grooming standards.
• Maintain confidentiality of all Company information, recipes, customer information, business operations, and internal processes.

Requirements

• Minimum SPM or equivalent.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Experience as a barista or in the F&B industry is an advantage but not required.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.
• Able to work independently as well as in a team.
