About the Role

This position is responsible for leading initiatives that ensure the effectiveness, efficiency, and compliance of technology operations. The role combines governance, performance management, and assurance functions to drive strategic alignment, operational excellence, and risk mitigation across the technology landscape, in line with AIA Group Policies and BNM – RMiT guidelines.

The assurance function operates as an independent reviewer and assessor across all technology projects to ensure adherence to mandatory standards.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Technology Assurance & Risk Management

  • Enforce and govern adherence to the SDLC process across the technology function.

  • Lead assurance activities, including IT audits, control testing, and risk assessments.

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards (e.g. ISO 27001, COBIT), including the latest RMiT standards and guidelines.

2. Performance Management & Optimization

  • Develop and manage performance frameworks to monitor and improve technology delivery.

  • Track KPIs, SLAs, and operational metrics to ensure service excellence.

  • Drive initiatives to enhance productivity, cost efficiency, and value realization.

  • Own testing governance and ensure adherence to standards and guidelines, contributing to reduced production incidents.

3. Strategic Governance

  • Establish and maintain governance structures for technology programmes and portfolios.

  • Facilitate governance and decision‑making forums, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities.

4. Automation

  • Champion low‑complexity, high‑impact automation solutions to streamline operations.

  • Lead cross‑functional squads to deliver automation use cases and scale initiatives.

5. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Represent assurance and performance initiatives in governance and funding reviews.

  • Provide clear and transparent reporting on risks, performance, and strategic outcomes.

6. Talent Development & Culture Building

  • Mentor teams in assurance, analytics, and performance management.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, simplification, and continuous improvement.

  • Build capabilities in data‑driven decision‑making and governance maturity.

7. Others

  • Perform other responsibilities and duties as periodically assigned by the supervisor to meet operational and/or business requirements.

Minimum Job Requirements:

1. Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or Business.

  • Master’s degree (e.g. MBA, MSc in IT Management) is preferred.

2. Experience

  • 8–12 years of experience in IT governance, risk, compliance, or assurance roles.

  • Experience in financial services or other regulated industries is an advantage.

  • Experience in a similar capacity within a consulting firm is an added advantage.

  • Strong understanding of frameworks such as COBIT, ISO 27001, NIST, and ITIL.
