Job Summary

The Clinical Assistant supports healthcare providers by assisting with patient care, preparing examination rooms, maintaining medical records, and performing administrative and clinical tasks. This role helps ensure efficient clinic operations while providing compassionate, high-quality patient service.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Welcome and prepare patients for examinations and treatments. 
  • Measure and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, and weight. 
  • Document patient history and chief complaints accurately. 
  • Assist physicians and nurses during examinations and minor procedures. 
  • Provide patients with basic education and post-treatment instructions as directed. 

Clinical Support

  • Prepare and clean examination rooms before and after patient visits. 
  • Sterilize and maintain medical instruments and equipment. 
  • Collect and label laboratory specimens as required. 
  • Administer basic diagnostic tests (e.g., ECG, urine tests, vision tests) where permitted and trained. 
  • Ensure adequate stock of medical supplies and notify management when replenishment is needed. 

Administrative Duties

  • Schedule patient appointments and manage clinic calendars. 
  • Register patients and verify demographic and insurance information. 
  • Maintain accurate electronic or paper medical records. 
  • Handle phone calls, emails, and patient inquiries professionally. 
  • Process referrals, laboratory requests, and medical documentation. 

Compliance & Safety

  • Follow infection prevention and control protocols. 
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with applicable privacy regulations. 
  • Adhere to clinic policies, procedures, and safety standards. 
  • Assist with quality improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance. 

Qualifications

  • SPM or equivalent as a minimum
  • Previous experience in a clinic, hospital, or healthcare setting is an advantage. 
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic medical record (EMR) systems is desirable. 
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification is an advantage.
