Job Description

1. Environmental Compliance & Monitoring

  • Ensure adherence to the Environmental Quality Act 1974 and related regulations.
     
  • Perform routine assessments of air quality, water quality, noise levels, vibration, and erosion & sediment control (ESCP).
     
  • Execute and oversee environmental protection initiatives at the project site.
     
  • Verify that all subcontractors meet environmental standards.
     

2. Reporting & Documentation

  • Compile and manage records of environmental compliance, inspection reports, monitoring data, and environmental logbooks.
     
  • Assist in the preparation of submissions to the DOE, including scheduled waste reports, environmental performance documentation, and EIA/EMP compliance papers.
     
  • Facilitate environmental audits and inspections conducted by regulatory authorities.
     

3. Waste & Pollution Management

  • Oversee scheduled waste management, chemical handling, spill prevention, and waste disposal in alignment with DOE regulations.
     
  • Monitor site operations to avert pollution incidents, such as oil spills, runoff, and improper waste handling.
     
  • Examine machinery for potential environmental hazards (leaks, emissions, etc.).
     

4. Environmental Awareness & Training

  • Lead environmental induction and awareness training sessions for employees and subcontractors.
     
  • Encourage the adoption of sound environmental practices on-site.
     
  • Ensure that workers are knowledgeable about and adhere to environmental protection protocols.
     

5. Environmental Risk Control

  • Identify environmental risks and recommend solutions for mitigation.
     
  • Develop, maintain, and implement the Environmental Management Plan (EMP).
     
  • Coordinate responses to emergencies related to environmental incidents.

Job Requirements

  • MUST be a Competent Environmental Person, with valid relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Environmental Officer, EIA/EMP competency, Scheduled Waste Competency, or other DOE-recognised qualifications).
     
  • Possess required licenses/competency certificates recognised by the Department of Environment (DOE) Malaysia.
     
  • 5–10 years of working experience in environmental management, preferably in construction, engineering, marine, or infrastructure projects.
     
  • Strong understanding of Malaysian environmental legislation, DOE guidelines, ESCP, scheduled waste requirements, and environmental monitoring standards.
     
  • Mandarin (Chinese) is compulsory due to communication with China management.
     
  • Good reporting, analytical, and communication skills.
