Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

We are seeking an experienced Head of Finance to lead and oversee the full spectrum of finance and accounting operations across Malaysia and Thailand. This role is responsible for ensuring effective financial management, strong governance, and operational efficiency in all day-to-day finance activities. The Head of Finance will manage key functions including billing and collections, payments, cash flow planning, banking and treasury, financial reporting, and month-end and year-end closing. In addition, the role will provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions and drive organisational growth. The ideal candidate is hands-on, analytical, and results-driven, with the ability to lead the finance function, enhance processes, and ensure continuous improvement across the department.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Financial Strategy & Leadership

  1. Develop and implement the company’s overall financial strategy aligned with corporate goals and growth plans.  
  2. Advise the Board and CEO on financial performance, risks, and opportunities. 
  3. Provide financial insight for long-term business planning, investment decisions, and capital structure optimization.    

B. Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting

  1. Lead the preparation of annual budgets, project forecasts, and financial models.  
  2. Monitor cash flow, project costing, working capital, and profitability.  
  3. Oversee timely preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and stakeholders.    

C. Project & Financial Management

  1. Establish robust project accounting practices for tracking project costs, margins, and progress billings.  
  2. Ensure proper, clear and documented financial controls for procurement, subcontractor payments, claims, and variations.  
  3. Partner with Project Directors/Managers to provide financial guidance throughout project lifecycles.  

D. Governance, Compliance & Risk Management

i. Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements.  

ii. Oversee internal controls, audit processes, and risk management frameworks.  

iii. Drive implementation of systems, policies, and processes to safeguard assets and prevent financial risks.     

E. Team Leadership & Mentorship  

i. Lead, coach, and mentor a team of finance professionals to build strong technical and leadership capabilities.  

ii. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and ethical financial practices.  

iii. Provide training and development opportunities to support staff career progression.  


Job Requirements

JOB COMPETENCIES REQUIREMENT

  1. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to communicate with the team and other stakeholders  
  2. Strong organizational skills and able to manage multiple competing priorities  
  3. Attention to details and strong problem-solving skill  
  4. Willing to learn and work in a dynamic business environment  
  5. Self-starter, self-motivated, independent and versatile team player.  
  6. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, book keeping procedures and inter company transactions entries  
  7. Working experience in financial audit or construction related business will be an advantage, but not required. 

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS     

Formal Education : Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field     

Work Experience : Total Relevant Experience: Minimum of 8 years in a similar role preferred.   

Skills / Knowledge/ Qualifications :  

• Fluency in English language (Mandarin or Bahasa Malaysia is an added bonus).  

• Proficiency in MS Office (in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint). • Knowledge of Autocount System will be an added advantage.
