Location: This job is based at our Penang office (Bukit Mertajam) — on-site, not remote. Being in the office matters for this role, because you'll work closely with the team and the founders. That's how you learn the brand fast and get to own your work early. 

• Write across every surface our brand lives on — TikTok scripts, Shopee product copy, Reels captions, packaging, website. Your work lands in front of a community of 400,000+ anglers who actually read what we publish.
• Make products feel like stories — translate technical features and brand narrative into copy that sounds human, sells without feeling like a sales pitch, and matches each platform's tone instead of copy-pasting across all of them.
• Work close to the people who decide — directly with the Marketing Team Lead and the founders. Your work is visible. Your name is attached. No twelve-person approval chain to dilute the writing.
• Use AI as a sharpening tool, not a shortcut — research, ideation, first drafts, polish. Your taste is what separates writing that converts from writing that scrolls past.
• Grow on your own trajectory, not the calendar's — some writers here move into team leadership; others go deeper into craft and become the writer everyone reaches for when an idea needs to land. Both paths are real.

Job Requirements

Start date: Immediate or within 30 days

Education: Diploma or Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Language, or related field. Strong portfolio carries more weight than the certificate.

Experience: 2 – 5 years of hands-on experience in content writing, copywriting, or digital content. Agency, in-house, or freelance — all count, as long as the work was real and the volume was meaningful.

Language — Bahasa Malaysia: Strong written command

Language — English: Strong written command

Language — Mandarin: Bonus — our audience spans all three

Soft skills

• Adapts writing tone across different platforms and audiences — knows when a long caption works and when a single line is sharper.
• Open to feedback and generous with ideas — sharpens thinking through collaboration, not in defense of their own draft.
• Self-motivated — takes a brief, asks the right questions, and comes back with work that does not need to be redone. 
• Detail-oriented — proofreads before publishing, catches own typos.
• Strong sense of taste — clear beats clever; knows when copy is trying too hard.
• Comfortable with AI tools without letting the output sound generic.

Bonus: experience writing for e-commerce, social commerce, or outdoor / sports / lifestyle brands. Interest in fishing or the outdoors is a plus — it makes the work easier — but it is not a requirement. We can teach the category. We cannot teach taste.
