Position Summary
Five Eight Twenty-Two Consulting Inc. dba The Mantis Group is a Canadian consulting and technology company that helps organizations transform how they use data to drive growth, performance, and decision-making. We’re seeking a Data Scientist to join our team on a contract basis, with the potential to transition into a permanent role. In this position, you’ll lead the design and deployment of sophisticated machine learning models, play a key role in shaping our data strategy, and help clients turn complex data into actionable insight. You’ll collaborate across product, engineering, and consulting teams to solve meaningful business problems at scale.
Key Responsibilities

<li>Model Development: Design, build, and evaluate machine learning models that deliver measurable improvements to business outcomes, with a focus on scalability and predictive accuracy.</li>
<li>SFMC Data Strategy &amp; Integration: Partner with marketing teams to ingest, analyze, and activate SFMC data. Build models that leverage campaign engagement, customer journeys, and behavioural signals to optimize targeting and personalization.</li>
<li>Data Integration &amp; Transformation: Perform complex data wrangling and preprocessing across multiple sources, ensuring high-quality, consistent datasets ready for modelling.</li>
<li>Feature Engineering: Lead the design and testing of new features using domain knowledge, statistical techniques, and business logic to maximize model performance and interpretability.</li>
<li>Infrastructure Collaboration: Work closely with data engineers to enhance data pipelines, infrastructure, and tools, supporting scalable ML development.</li>
<li>Model Optimization: Utilize advanced techniques such as hyperparameter tuning, cross-validation, and A/B testing to improve model performance and reliability continually.</li>
<li>Insight Communication: Translate technical outputs into business value through straightforward storytelling, visualizations, and reports tailored to diverse stakeholders.</li>
