Job Description

A. Process Design & Engineering (40%)

• Lead Process Design: Develop and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment datasheets for both new projects and facility modifications.
• Perform Process Simulations: Use software like Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, or similar to simulate processes, validate designs, and troubleshoot operational issues.
• Lead Hazard Studies: Facilitate and participate in Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP), Hazard Identification (HAZID), and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA).
• Sizing and Specification: Perform hydraulic calculations, line sizing, control valve sizing, and pressure drop calculations for in-plant pipelines and relief systems (PSV sizing).

B. Production & Operational Support (30%)

• Troubleshooting: Provide expert-level technical support to resolve complex process-related issues and production bottlenecks, minimizing downtime.
• Debottlenecking & Optimization: Identify opportunities for process debottlenecking, yield improvement, energy efficiency, and capacity enhancement.
• Management of Change (MOC): Lead the technical review and implementation of Management of Change for process modifications.
• Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Develop and review SOPs to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.

C. Safety, Compliance & Documentation (20%)

• Ensure Compliance: Ensure all process designs and operations comply with company safety standards and Malaysian regulations (e.g., DOSH, DOE, PETRONAS PTS standards where applicable).
• Safety System: Review and update the plant's Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF) and Safety Integrity Level (SIL).
• Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including process design basis, operating manuals, updating P&ID and PFD and commissioning procedures.

D. Leadership & Mentorship (10%)

• Project Management: Lead or coordinate small to medium-scale process improvement projects from conception to commissioning.
• Mentor Junior Engineers: Provide guidance, training, and technical oversight to graduate and junior process engineers.
• Any other duties assigned by the management from time to time.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

• Education:
• Bachelor's Degree in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering .
• Professional accreditation (e.g., Ir. designation from the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM)) is a significant advantage and often required for senior roles.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 3 years of direct process engineering experience.
• Proven experience in a relevant industry such as Oil & Gas (Upstream/Downstream), Petrochemicals, Specialty Chemicals, or Semiconductor/Solar PV manufacturing or Green Energy
• Hands-on experience with FEED (Front End Engineering Design) and EPC project phases is highly desirable.
• Possess the ability to effectively manage a multi-disciplinary project team and capable of working under minimum supervision and good teamwork.
• Required Language: English, Bahasa Malaysia & Mandarin (Preferable).
• Strong in planning, organising and problem solving.
• Possess own transport.
• Willing to travel to customer sites and outstation.
