The Role: Financial Accountant
This role supports the German Controllers organization with German and other jurisdictions managed out of the Frankfurt office, to ensure that the accounting operations are timely and accurately reported and that local statutory requirements are adhered to, in addition to supporting enterprise-wide initiatives.

The Team: Reporting to the Associate Director – Financial Accounting, you are part of the EMEA Enterprise Controllership Leadership team, which is a team of 29, responsible for managing the accounting operations in the region and supporting the Company’s accounting and finance activities. The global Controllers organization is a team of 300+ globally.

The Impact: This position supports the EMEA Controllers team locally to ensure internal and external reporting is timely reported and in compliance with local statutory requirements. This position also supports the Associate Director – Financial Accounting, in partnering locally with business and operations to ensure that governance and internal controls are adhered to, driving operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze key balance sheet and P&L accounts; prepare and post associated journals.

  • Support month-end processes, including journal preparation and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Prepare and post payroll journals, reconciliations, including necessary accruals.

  • Allocate monthly intercompany cross charges related to Payroll Benefits.

  • Analyze monthly financial reports and present findings to the board quarterly.

  • Maintain accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

  • Prepare financial statements for legal entities

  • Liaise with external auditors for timely completion of statutory audits.

  • Ensure timely submission of financial and non-financial information to local authorities.

  • Support preparation of tax returns and related accounting workflows.

  • Assist the German Controller with mergers, acquisitions, and legal entity restructuring.

  • Support process improvement projects by identifying and implementing best practices.

What We’re Looking For: An individual with a high attention to detail, who is well organized. Someone with strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. You will have a strong desire to exceed expectations and are a real team player with an innate desire to contribute to change. You consider yourself systems savvy and have worked with Oracle, Alteryx, Tableau and understand the FinTech industry (or wish to).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably in Public Accounting

  • Strong problem-solving ability

  • Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

  • Well organized and able to prioritize conflicting deadlines.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Strong desire to exceed expectations.

  • Results orientated.

  • Open to work in EMEA hours (2pm-11pm)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ACA / CPA or equivalent certification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent

  • Good understanding general tax accounting and local tax regimes

  • Experience of financial statement preparation

  • Time management skills and the ability to prioritize.

  • Team player with good working relationships, strong team management and leadership qualities.
