Job Description

 

We are looking for a friendly and dependable Retail / Shop Assistant to support the daily operations of our retail outlet in Sabah. This role focuses on customer service, basic sales support, and maintaining an organised and presentable shop environment.

The ideal candidate is customer-oriented, responsible, and comfortable handling both front-facing retail duties and back-of-house support tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers and assist with product enquiries in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Support sales transactions, including order taking, basic cashiering, and payment handling.
  • Handle customer enquiries related to product availability, pricing, promotions, and basic after-sales matters.
  • Assist with receiving, unpacking, and arranging stock on shelves or displays.
  • Ensure the shop is clean, organised, and well-presented at all times.
  • Monitor stock levels on the shop floor and report low stock or discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Assist with basic inventory checks and stock labelling as required.
  • Support opening and closing duties of the retail outlet, where applicable.
  • Follow company policies, SOPs, and customer service standards.

Job Requirements

  •  Minimum SPM qualification; Diploma holders are welcome to apply.
  • Prior experience in retail, customer service, or sales is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Friendly personality with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Comfortable interacting with customers on a daily basis.
  • Basic numeracy skills and ability to handle cash or payment systems.
  • Willingness to work on weekends or public holidays based on retail operations.
  • Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods when required.
  • Able to work well in a team and follow instructions.
  • Proficient in Bahasa Malaysia; basic English communication skills are required. Knowledge of local dialects is an advantage.
