Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

About Us

NESTA is a private operating office that designs and manages lawful residency structures, so families can live properly in Malaysia. Our role is to ensure that residency, school, housing, banking, transportation, and professional coordination work together in the right order, at the right time, under one accountable structure.

Founder Involvement, Defined

As General Manager, you are responsible for the entire operational system of NESTA.

Operational outcomes, good or bad, sit with you. The Founder defines philosophy, standards, and long-term direction. The Founder does not manage day-to-day operations.

Founder Involvement (First 2 - 3 Months)

During the initial 2 - 3 months, the Founder will work closely with you to transfer:

  • Operating standards
  • Judgment frameworks
  • Structural decision principles

This period exists to accelerate alignment, not to share responsibility. Once alignment is complete, the Founder steps back by design. Operational ownership remains fully with the GM throughout.

Your Position in the Structure

  • You make operational decisions
  • You own outcomes, not tasks
  • You resolve problems instead of escalating them
  • You report conclusions, not stories

If something breaks, it is yours to fix.
If something works, it is yours to maintain.

Job Requirements

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Own the Client Operating Structure

For every family:

  • Maintain one clear operating timeline
  • Understand residency status, timing risks, and dependencies
  • Ensure decisions are made in the correct sequence, not reactively

If a client asks, “Are we okay?” you must already know the answer.

2. Residency & Timing Continuity

You do not sell visas.
You are accountable for:

  • Knowing where each client stands legally at all times
  • Anticipating renewals, transitions, and risk windows
  • Preventing last-minute or crisis-driven decisions

3. Coordinate Life-Critical Elements

  • You ensure alignment between:
  • Residency and school intake cycles
  • Housing arrangements and legal stay duration
  • Banking readiness before tuition and daily life depend on it
  • Transportation readiness when required

When one element moves, you realign the rest.

4. Control External Professionals

You coordinate and direct independent professionals:

  • Immigration advisors
  • Lawyers
  • Accountants
  • Tax professionals
  • Schools
  • Property and vehicle partners

They execute their scope. You own the structure.

5. Maintain Order, Tone, and Boundaries

You protect NESTA from:

  • Urgency theatre
  • Emotional reactions
  • Overpromising
  • Fragmented execution

Operations must remain:

  • Calm
  • Structured
  • Factual

6. Reporting to the Founder

You do not report activity.

You report:

  • Decisions made
  • Risks identified
  • Outcomes achieved

Reports are short, clear, and unemotional.

ROLE TRAJECTORY (Important)

This role is designed to grow with NESTA.

As the operating structure stabilizes and client volume increases, the GM evolves into the full owner of NESTA’s operational system, including team design, process authority, and decision ownership.

Compensation and scope expand with responsibility, not with tenure or busyness.

This is not a stepping-stone role. It is a system ownership role.

ACCOUNTABILITY & EVALUATION

This role is evaluated on operational stability, not activity.

Key indicators:

  • Client continuity without preventable disruption
  • Clean renewals and transitions
  • Clear ownership across all professionals
  • Founder not being pulled into daily operations

Warning signals:

  • Slowing decision speed
  • Increased explanations instead of actions
  • Emotion entering operational updates

Two or more signals trigger a review.

WHAT YOU WILL NOT DO

  • You will not wait for instructions
  • You will not pass responsibility upward
  • You will not manage emotions
  • You will not ask the Founder to resolve operational issues

REQUIRED PROFILE

You are suitable for this role only if:

  • You are comfortable making decisions with incomplete information
  • You remain calm under pressure
  • You do not require frequent validation
  • You prefer responsibility over recognition

English/ Mandarin / Cantonese language ability is a strong advantage.

Experience with expatriate or UHNW clients is a plus.

TEAM & GROWTH RESPONSIBILITY

As NESTA grows, the GM is expected to design, hire, and manage a lean operational team. Hiring decisions fall under GM responsibility, within approved structure and standards.
