Job Description

Job Purpose and Impact

This role will lead and coordinate our supply forecasting efforts for Palm oil globally, with focus on Malaysia & Indonesia. It requires a strong agronomy background, understanding of Palm crop phenology and yield’s response to weather, along with know-how of on-ground practices of yield management by plantations. In this role, you will provide supply forecasts, develop models, tools and processes to equip the key stakeholders to make trading, risk management, margin enhancement and asset utilization decisions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Execute best in class, complex global crop supply analytics efforts and provide guidance to more junior team members.

  • Align regional supply forecasting efforts with global objectives and ensure that crop supply analytics message is heard and understood globally.

  • Drive towards speed, accuracy and communication of confidence intervals for crop forecasts and lead crop continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Coach junior analysts to provide value for the trading team, show connections between analyst team and business needs, demonstrate value of each analysis, sponsor market and benchmark reports and serve as the link to outside market and benchmarks to support other analysts.

  • Develop and coordinate complex crop initiatives in conjunction with stakeholders.

  • Apply in depth understanding and broad knowledge of related areas to provide thought leadership for new data, technology, tools and innovation and establish processes to efficiently capture potential crop signal generating data.

  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • Ability to quickly take disparate information and derive accurate insights

  • Experience and proficiency in modeling techniques, coding and big data management

  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and execute under tight timelines

  • In field agronomics experience

  • Minimum of five years of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree

Prior Beneficial Experiences

  • Experience in Palm oil industry in Malaysia/Indonesia, preferably with plantations. Comfortable with Crop tours on required frequency.

  • Works independently to develop and coordinate crop initiatives in conjunction with stakeholders.

  • Applies general knowledge to contributes to thought leadership for new data, technology, tools, and innovation and establish processes to efficiently capture potential crop signal generating data.

  • Experience collaborating and supporting other analyst team members to deliver best analysis that maximizes business competitive advantage.
