About Faculty Coffee Sdn. Bhd.
Faculty Coffee Sdn. Bhd. is a café concept scheduled to open on 1 June. We are currently building our core operations team, and the role will be involved in pre-opening preparation and operational setup prior to launch.

Job Summary

The Head of Barista is responsible for leading all bar operations, ensuring consistent coffee quality, excellent customer experience, and effective training of the barista team. This role combines hands-on barista work with leadership, quality control, and operational excellence to uphold the café’s coffee standards and brand identity.

Key Responsibilities

Coffee Quality & Bar Operations

  • Oversee daily bar operations and ensure consistent coffee quality across all beverages.
  • Prepare and serve coffee and beverages to company standards.
  • Calibrate espresso machines and grinders daily to maintain optimal extraction.
  • Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and service speed.

Team Leadership & Training

  • Lead, train, and mentor barista team members.
  • Develop and maintain barista SOPs, recipes, and brewing standards.
  • Conduct regular training on espresso, milk texturing, brewing methods, and customer service.
  • Support staff scheduling and shift supervision.

Customer Experience & Brand Standards

  • Maintain high standards of customer service and café presentation.
  • Handle customer feedback professionally and work with management to improve service quality.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for Faculty Coffee through knowledge and service excellence.

Inventory, Equipment & Cost Control

  • Monitor coffee beans, milk, and bar supplies usage.
  • Assist in ordering and stock management to avoid shortages or wastage.
  • Ensure proper care, cleaning, and maintenance of coffee equipment.
  • Liaise with suppliers or service providers when required.

Menu Development & Continuous Improvement

  • Assist in developing beverage menus, seasonal drinks, and special offerings.
  • Participate in coffee sourcing, tasting, and quality evaluation when required.
  • Continuously improve bar workflows and efficiency.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Senior Barista or Head Barista (specialty coffee experience preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of espresso extraction, milk texturing, and brewing methods.
  • Experience in training and supervising barista teams.
  • Passion for coffee quality, consistency, and customer experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced café environment.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
