Job Description

Teaching & Academic Delivery

  • Deliver lectures, tutorials, practical sessions, and clinical supervision in TCM-related subjects (e.g. TCM Theory, Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Tuina, Diagnostics)
  • Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, assessments, and examination papers.
  • Evaluate and grade student performance in a timely and professional manner.
  • Supervise students during clinical training and internships, where applicable.

Curriculum & Academic Development

  • Participate in curriculum design, review, and continuous improvement to ensure alignment with accreditation requirements and industry standards.
  • Integrate modern educational approaches and evidence-based practices into teaching.
  • Contribute to academic quality assurance activities and programme accreditation exercises.

Research & Scholarly Activities

  • Conduct research in TCM or related fields and publish in recognized academic journals (where applicable).
  • Present research findings at conferences, seminars, or workshops.
  • Supervise undergraduate and/or postgraduate research projects.

Administrative & Service Duties

  • Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and academic events.
  • Assist with student recruitment, academic advising, and mentoring.

Job Requirements

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine (minimum requirement).
  • Master’s Degree or PhD in TCM or related discipline is preferred.

Professional Certification

  • Registered with a recognized TCM professional body (e.g. TCM Board / Ministry of Health / equivalent authority).
  • Valid practicing certificate (where applicable).

Experience

  • 1 - 3 years of teaching experience in higher education or TCM institutions is preferred. 
  • Clinical practice experience in TCM is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine theory and clinical practice.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin (spoken and written); proficiency in English is an advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Competency in using educational technologies and learning management systems.
