 Key Responsibilities

CMM Programming & Operation

• Develop, validate, and optimize CMM programs using offline and online software.
• Set up parts, fixtures, and probes for dimensional inspection.
• Operate CMMs (bridge, gantry, or portable arms) to inspect first-article, in-process, and final parts.

Dimensional Inspection

• Interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, and specifications.
• Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to measurement routines.
• Document and report dimensional data, including deviations and non-conformances.

Quality Control & Documentation

• Generate detailed inspection reports and first-article inspection (FAI) packages.
• Identify and escalate quality issues; assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Maintain inspection records and CMM program library.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance on CMM equipment.
• Troubleshoot and calibrate probes, stylus configurations, and machine errors.
• Coordinate with external vendors for routine calibration and repairs.

Job Requirements

Education: Diploma or equivalent. A technical certificate or associate qualification in metrology, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering is highly preferred.

Experience: +2 years of hands-on CMM programming and operation in a manufacturing environment.

Software Proficiency: Experience with at least one major CMM software.

GD&T: Strong working knowledge.

Technical Skills: Ability to read complex blueprints, use basic hand gages (calipers, micrometers, height gages), and understand machining/fabrication processes.

Preferred

Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or CMM programming certification.

Experience with portable CMM arms.

Familiarity with quality systems (ISO 9001 and IATF 16949).

Experience creating CAD-based offline programs.

Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and Minitab or similar software.
