3cat is Malaysia’s leading circular-economy retail and refurbishment platform for pre-owned smartphones and electronics. We operate a growing multi-store network and an AI-powered electronics platform. We are strengthening our financial governance, systems, and reporting capabilities to support institutional growth and regional expansion. In 2026, we expect to scale from 22 stores to more than 50 stores across the region.
ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Financial Controller will lead the full spectrum of finance operations and governance across a fast-scaling, inventory-intensive retail and import business. This is a high-impact leadership role combining financial control discipline, strategic commercial insight, hands-on execution, and systems/process development.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Reporting & Closing
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare accurate and timely management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
- Ensure compliance with MFRS and statutory reporting requirements.
- Coordinate annual audit and liaise with external auditors.
- Deliver board and investor reporting packs.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecast processes.
- Conduct variance analysis and performance reviews.
- Develop store-level P&L accountability frameworks.
- Provide financial modelling for expansion, pricing, and capital decisions.
- Monitor gross margin, inventory turnover, and working capital efficiency.
Working Capital & Cashflow Management
- Oversee cashflow forecasting and liquidity planning.
- Optimise working capital across procurement, refurbishment, and retail operations.
- Manage banking relationships and financing facilities.
- Implement disciplined inventory financial controls.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Strengthen internal controls, SOPs, and approval matrices.
- Ensure compliance with tax, SST (if applicable), and statutory obligations.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation standards.
- Support documentation and reporting requirements linked to import and regulatory processes.
Systems & Process Development
- Lead enhancement or implementation of ERP/accounting systems.
- Integrate inventory and finance data for real-time reporting.
- Improve automation and financial dashboards.
- Build scalable processes to support expansion.
Team Leadership
- Build and manage the finance team.
- Develop structured reporting lines and accountability.
- Mentor junior finance staff.
- Foster a culture of accuracy, ownership, and commercial awareness.
