About the Role

The CMDB Intern will support the maintenance, accuracy, and completeness of the ServiceNow Configuration Management Database (CMDB). This role focuses on CMDB data validation, clean-up, and documentation, supporting data governance, audit readiness, and ongoing CMDB improvement initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Validate Configuration Item (CI) records for accuracy, completeness, and consistency

  • Identify and support correction of missing, duplicate, obsolete, or incorrect CMDB data

  • Will be involved in Configuration Item re-certification process and CMDB data clean-up activities

  • Update CI attributes in ServiceNow CMDB under supervision

  • Extract and prepare CMDB data for analysis, reporting, and data quality reviews

  • Assist in maintaining CMDB process documentation and working instructions

  • Support coordination with IT teams for CI verification and follow-ups

  • supporting audit, compliance, and data quality initiatives

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education / Qualification

Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline

Knowledge & Skills

Basic understanding of IT infrastructure and applications

Strong attention to detail and data accuracy

Basic data handling skills (Excel or equivalent)

Preferred

Basic knowledge of ITIL, CMDB, or IT Asset Management concepts

Exposure to ServiceNow (academic or limited practical exposure acceptable)

Key Learning Outcomes

  • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow CMDB

  • Learn industry alignment with ITIL, ISO standards, and enterprise IT practices.

  • Understanding data quality principles – completeness, accuracy

  • Experience supporting audit, compliance, and data quality initiatives

  • Understand how relationships support impact analysis and root cause analysis.

  • Understand how automated discovery populates CMDB data

  • Understand approval controls and change governance affecting CMDB data

  • Opportunity to learn on how to document findings, processes, and improvement recommendations

Performance Measures

  • Accuracy and completeness of assigned CI records

  • Timely completion of CMDB data validation and clean-up tasks

  • Reduction in CMDB data quality issues within assigned scope
