Role Overview:
We are seeking a high-calibre, SaaS-savvy Finance Manager to lead our finance function across Malaysia and Singapore. This is not a traditional accounting role, you will act as a strategic finance partner, driving insights, supporting decision-making, and shaping the company’s growth trajectory.
You will own financial operations, SaaS metrics reporting, forecasting, and investor communications. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-scaling environment and wants to play a key role in building a regional EdTech leader.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Operations & Month-End Closing
- Perform full monthly closing for Malaysia (HQ) and Singapore (subsidiary).
- Ensure accurate, timely financial reporting in compliance with local standards.
- Manage general ledger, revenue recognition, accruals, deferred income, and cost allocations.
- Liaise with auditors, tax agents, and corporate secretaries.
- Maintain strong financial controls, accounting policies, and compliance frameworks.
2. SaaS Metrics, Analytics & Insights
- You are expected to have strong command of SaaS financial and operational metrics, including:
- MRR (Monthly Recurring Revenue)/ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue) movements and cohort trends.
- Churn and retention analysis.
- LTV, CAC, and CAC payback period
- Gross margin and contribution margin.
- Rule of 40 performance.
- Expansion revenue and Net Revenue Retention (NRR).
- AR aging and cash collection efficiency.
- Subscription-based revenue recognition.
- Translate financial data into actionable business insights.
- Identify churn risks, pricing opportunities, and margin improvements.
- Partner with the CEO to prepare investor-ready SaaS performance decks.
3. FP&A, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecasts.
- Prepare weekly and monthly forecasts (cash flow, burn rate, runway).
- Build and maintain financial models for growth scenarios and unit economics.
4. Strategic Finance & Business Partnering
- Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO and leadership team.
- Evaluate ROI of new initiatives, markets, and product launches.
- Support fundraising, due diligence, and investor engagements.
- Benchmark company performance against SaaS industry standards.
5. Investor Reporting & Board Updates
- Prepare clear, concise, investor-grade reports and presentations.
- Highlight KPIs, variances, forecasts, and key insights.
- Support monthly and quarterly investor communications.
- Simplify complex financial data into compelling narratives.
