Key Responsibilities

As a key member of our Kitchen Team, the Commis plays an important role in supporting daily kitchen operations and ensuring food is prepared efficiently, safely, and to Banglo 289’s standards. This position is ideal for individuals eager to learn, grow, and build a strong foundation in a professional kitchen environment. 

• Kitchen Operations & Support
• Assist senior chefs in daily food preparation, cooking, and plating for our self-service/canteen-style lunch service
• Prepare ingredients (washing, chopping, slicing, portioning) according to recipes and prep lists
• Ensure timely food preparation to support smooth service flow during peak hours
• Food Quality & Safety
• Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times
• Ensure proper food storage, labeling, and stock rotation (FIFO)
• Maintain consistency and quality in food presentation and taste
• Kitchen Upkeep & Cleanliness
• Keep workstations, kitchen equipment, and storage areas clean and organized
• Assist with dishwashing and end-of-day kitchen cleaning duties
• Ensure tools and equipment are handled and stored correctly
• Teamwork & Communication
• Work closely with chefs and kitchen team members to ensure efficient operations
• Communicate clearly with FOH staff to support smooth service and guest satisfaction
• Take instructions positively and show willingness to learn from senior team members
• Problem Solving & Initiative
• Identify and report equipment issues, stock shortages, or food quality concerns
• Assist in minimizing food waste and maintaining kitchen efficiency
