Job Description

The Technician is responsible for supporting the fabrication, fitting, maintenance, and repair of prosthetic and orthotic devices in accordance with Company standards and clinical instructions. Reporting to the Operations Director, key duties include assisting in workshop and technical operations, preparing materials and components, maintaining tools and equipment, adhering to safety and quality procedures, and supporting clinicians and technical staff to ensure timely and accurate service delivery. The Technician shall comply with all operational policies and perform any additional duties reasonably assigned by the Lab Supervisor. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the fabrication, assembly, modification, and repair of prosthetic and orthotic devices according to approved designs and specifications.
     
  2. Interpret technical drawings, casts, and digital files provided by Prosthetists Orthotists to produce accurate and functional devices.
     
  3. Select appropriate materials, components, and fabrication methods to meet clinical and technical requirements.
     
  4. Maintain workshop tools, machinery, and equipment in safe and efficient working condition.
     
  5. Ensure that all fabrication and finishing work complies with company quality standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
     
  6. Conduct quality checks, alignments, and adjustments during the fabrication process to ensure precision and performance.
     
  7. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of the workshop and storage areas.
     
  8. Manage inventory of materials, components, and consumables, and report stock levels to the General Manager.
     
  9. Assist in maintaining accurate technical records, job sheets, and device documentation.
     
  10. Adhere to occupational health and safety procedures, infection control, and waste management practices.
     
  11. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality, efficiency, and safety.
     
  12. Perform other technical or administrative tasks as assigned by the General Manager.

Job Requirements

  1. Experience in prosthetic, orthotic, or related technical fabrication work preferred.
     
  2. Hands-on skills in working with materials such as thermoplastics, laminates, metals, silicone, and composites.
     
  3. Ability to operate workshop tools and equipment safely and effectively.
     
  4. Good understanding of technical drawings, measurements, and device alignment principles.
     
  5. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
     
  6. Good organizational and time management skills to handle multiple fabrication tasks.
     
  7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a clinical-technical environment.
     
  8. Commitment to safety, cleanliness, and professional work ethics.
     
  9. Willingness to learn and adapt to new fabrication technologies, including CAD/CAM or 3D printing.
     
  10. Physical stamina and manual dexterity suitable for workshop-based tasks.
